HISTORY
The Bethel Visiting Nurse Association was
founded in 1927 by a group of public-spirited women who met regularly
at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Bethel. Our VNA began with one
nurse, Sara Baldwin, who served as both a home care nurse and school
nurse for the Town of Bethel.
A voluntary board of
directors has guided the Bethel VNA through decades of growth and
change. Our roots in the communities we serve are strengthened through
the contributions of these community leaders, local health care experts
and dedicated area residents.

MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Bethel Visiting
Nurse Association to provide compassionate, professional health care to
community residents, from prenatal services through end-of-life care;
to foster and promote wellness and, in times of illness, to provide
health care with dignity in the comfort of residents’ homes; and
to provide quality services to our patients and to the communities we
serve in accordance with the highest professional and ethical standards.

This scholarship memorializes Mary Edna Cargill, a Bethel VNA nurse who was

Bethel.
